MINUTES OF AGM HELD AT KINGSTEIGNTON BRITISH LEGION ON TUESDAY 4TH JUNE 2019 Chairman Vic Beer opened the meeting and then handed over to Pam Murray (Secretary) Minutes of 2018 AGM - were sent out prior to the AGM. Proposed by Dave Knight of Kango Gang and seconded by Roy Stephenson of Checkmates Matters Arising - None Treasurer's Report - Proposed by Merv Sanders of Breakaways and seconded by Paul Lennox of Cricketers Chairmans Report - There was not a lot to report this year. Last season was a successful one. For those who attended the Presentation Night will agree it was a lovely evening and the food was superb. It would be nice to see all teams there to pick up their trophies/cups. He said that we don't have a lot of young players and maybe Captains can try and encourage youngsters to play. He thanked John and the committee for their help throughout the season. He said a special thank you to Keith and Pam for their continued hard work to keep the league running smoothly. He wished all teams a good season. Proposed by Paul Lennox of Cricketers and seconded by Steve Edgington of Late Un's Secretaries Report - Keith and I would like to thank all the committee and members for their support during the last year which ran very smoothly. Again a big thank you to all umpires both committee and volunteers who give up their time to help keep competitions running. There were 8 entries into the Under 21's competition but only 5 turned up. In normal circumstances fines would be incurred but we want to encourage younger players so no fines will be issued. The number of teams/players who failed to turn up for competitions has much improved but to get it to 100% would be brilliant. Please let me know asap and your opponent/s if you are not able to play. I do work full-time so there is no point ringing me through the day, you can send an email which I look at daily or leave a message on my answer phone. The one competition that needs to be highlighted is the Men's Veterans, out of 22 preliminary matches last season only 9 were played. We did receive correspondence regarding this, so we are going to try a different approach to how this competition runs - Once all names have been received, we will run it like the Individuals competition, each player will have 2 throw offs and the top 16 players will then go through to the knock out rounds. I will let all captains know in advance the throw off dates and I will also let you know the date when the first week of knock out rounds will begin. We are hoping by doing this that players can decide if they are going to be available on the dates given. We have also noticed that a few teams have had to cancel matches due to not having enough players, the Committee have decided that should a team be one player short, they can have a score of 24 added to their total, but this can only be done on two occasions per season. Please note no more than one player per team per occasion. We have had one team withdraw from the league this season which means that the Premier League and Divisions 1 and 2 will have one bye and Divisions 3 and 4 will have two byes. Can you please make sure that all trophies are returned no later than the 1st April and of course cleaned so that they are ready in time for Presentation night. Result sheets - All results should be sent in by Monday noon. Results received by Sunday evening will be in the papers. For any late results, as per Rule 21, teams will be fined £5.00. You could save time by using the online scoring system, if you need any help in accessing it then please ask Keith or myself. We had a very successful Presentation evening again this year, most teams turned up who had won trophies. It would be great if all trophies were presented on the night. Next year we are hoping the date will be the 6th June, I am awaiting confirmation from The ERC. I will update the website as soon as I know. We will notify all Captains when the fixture books will be ready for collection. Please can we remind you not to ring before 6.00pm should you have any problems during the season. Keith and I do work, as mentioned before you can email anytime and between us we do look at the emails regularly. Also please bear in mind that we do also play skittles and can be out umpiring, so we are not ignoring you. We have a couple of vacancies on the committee, if you are interested, please see Vic, Keith or myself for more information. Lastly, Keith and I wish you all a very successful 2019/2020 season. Proposed by Adrian Hewings of Force 8 and seconded by Martyn Hasluck of Tumblers Honorariums It was agreed to keep them the same. Proposed by Roy Stephenson of Checkmates and seconded by Graham Prowse of Tumblers Election of President - Election of Auditors - N/A Election of Officers
